Yoga for Golfers February 5, 2011

YOGA FOR GOLFERS
Northville Yoga Center
Saturday, February 5, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 pm.

Discover How Yoga Can Enhance Your Golf Game!

11:00am – 12:00pm: Discover how Yoga helps golfers improve flexibility, strength, breathing and improve range of motion so a proper swing can be fully executed.

12:00pm – 12:30pm: Refreshments and Networking
** Class starts promptly at 11:00am; please arrive 15-30 minutes in advance.
** All levels welcome. No experience required.
** Please bring your own yoga mat or one will be provided by the studio
** Comfortable, lightweight "workout clothes" are best.
** Refrain from eating at least 30 minutes before practice

The prospect of becoming more flexible is what usually draws golfers to yoga. Beyond these benefits, yoga also can enhance a player's mental game, provide an effective way to focus both on and off the course, and give you the edge in both the short and long game. By learning and practicing yoga techniques, you will bring calmness to your game and to your life. Benefits of yoga for all golfers. Both women & men are encouraged to attend this unique yoga instruction, specially designed for the golfer!

Gary Sweetapple, a certified E-RYT and a "week-end warrior" golfer, will lead us through steps that will open up hips and shoulders to improve our golf swing.

Northville Yoga Center is located at 200 South Main St. Northville Michigan. A map with its location is located on the web site northvilleyogacenter.com

Feldenkrais Method
Awareness Through Movement Workshops
Dale Jensen
April 17th
April 24t
April 25th
$25/day Pick and choose as you wish

Expand your potential for easy, smooth, more coordinated movement with classic Feldenkrais Method lessons taught in pairs over the course of 3 days.
Each lesson is self-contained and each day stands on its own. You may choose to do 1 day, 2 days, or all 3 days!
Awareness Through Movement(ATM) lessons consist of both functional movement sequences as well as more general themes related to improving learning ability, discovering tendencies of self-use, learning to overcome challenges with ease, discovering more internal resources, improving one's self-image, distinguishing between appropriate and parasitic effort, and more. These themes allow you to extend the learning from a lesson into other areas of your life.
Day One: April 17
Hip & Shoulder Circles-

i)Small, simple, relaxing movements of the shoulders and hips that grow in complexity over the lesson and leave you with a compelling new image of what walking could be like.
ii)Pelvic Clock-
probably one of the most taught lessons in the Feldenkrais Method, and for good reason. Discover the freedom that results when your pelvis can easily move in any direction.
Day Two: April 24
The Movement of the Eyes Organizes the Movement of the Body-
iii) Learn a surprising method of improving movement--improving the movement of the eyes.
iv) The Carriage of the Head-
Improve form the top, down. We encounter the world primarily through the sense organs of our head and face. It is not surprising then, that hte organization of the head has a tremendous impact on our use of the the rest of ourselves.
Day 3: April 25
v) Becoming Aware of the parts of which we are not conscious with the help of those of which we are conscious
Imagine rolling a ball along the surfaces of your body - it quickly becomes clear which parts are in your self-image and which parts are not. This is a lesson performed largely without movement that nonetheless has the potential to radically alter movement.
vi) Perfecting the Self-Image-
A lesson with the potential to radically alter your perception of how to improve movement. A lesson with a very surprising ending for many people.
Gift yourself with this opportunity to connect with your body through this ATM series.
A core group of our members and teachers recently went to one of Dale's workshops in Ann Arbor, and came away all smiles. Please feel free to contact me directly via email if you have any questions.
The workshop will be limited to 12, so make reservations soon to reserve your spot!
